Bus Safety

In partnership with JR transport, we are providing safety for those who use HCA bus transportation by providing: 

  • Real-time GPS tracking so parents can see the status of the bus and know where your child is while on the bus.
  • CCTV on buses to ensure respect, safety and a positive experience for all on the bus.
  • Daily attendance
  • clearly marked buses
  • walkability between home & bus stops.

What we expect from students using the HCA Bus Program

1. Be on time - set your clock and get to the bus stop at least 5 minutes ahead of it’s ETA.

2. Excellent behaviour from students to ensure respect and safety.

  • respect for others
    • listening to instruction from the driver
    • stay seated
    • keep the noise level low
    • pick up your garbage and keep things neat
  • safety
    • stay seated
    • no pushing or other physical contact with 
    • hold the handrails when getting on and off the bus
    • walk, don't run, when approaching or exiting the bus

Consequences for behaviour that is disrespectful or unsafe will be strongly enforced. Please discuss this with your child and ensure that they understand the expectations and outcomes of their behaviour in the bus program.

  • first warning is a reminder of the expectations
  • second warning results in being off the bus for a week
  • third time is a removal from the bus for the balance of the school year without refund.

What you can expect from the HCA Bus Program

Following are the things that you can expect from the HCA Bus Program:

  • Clear and timely communication about delays or changes.
  • Safe driving at all times.
  • Bus maintenance and cleanliness.
  • A caring environment demonstrating mutual respect for students, families and staff.
  • Wise financial stewardship when establishing and collecting fees for transportation services.
  • Commitment to serving the bus program and responding to concerns with Christlike character.
