Academics

Heritage Christian Academy operates as an Alternative Program in partnership with the Heritage Christian Education Society Calgary (HCESC) and Palliser School Division.

Our fully accredited K - 12 curriculum follows Alberta Education requirements and is taught with a biblical worldview. Here are some facts about our academics:

  • Class sizes in Grades 1-12 range from 21-28 students, with a 1:17 ratio in kindergarten.
  • Smaller ratios are common in many elementary core subjects.
  • A variety of options are available for Gr 7-12 students including a dual-credit program in Sr. High.
  • +85% of HCA graduates attend and complete post-secondary programs.

Christian Education

In addition to the Alberta Education program of studies, HCA provides a dedicated Bible curriculum from Early Learning through Grade 12. Our Christian Education curriculum reveals the authority of Christ through scriptures and presents the relevance of Jesus in the daily lives of our students.

Our Christian Education curriculum provides multiple opportunities for students to choose to follow Jesus and develop a personal relationship with Him. Students learn how to apply biblical truth to their lives as they memorize Scripture and learn about Christ.

Sr. High students receive credit for the Bible classes.

Connecting to the Classroom

Teachers at HCA use digital/online tools to support communication between home and school.

A link to your child's google classroom, or teacher site will be provided at the start of each school year. Access the site throughout the year to send messages, check on your child's assignments, or view updates and classroom activities.

If you have need to speak directly to your child's teacher, you can connect with them by using the staff directory and they will follow up with you when they are available. Keep in mind that a teacher's day is very scheduled and they may not be available to respond immediately. If you have an emergency, please contact the main office.

Academic Handbooks

We have provided academic handbooks for the Jr. High and Sr. High program of studies. The handbooks contain information about course options, prerequisites for specific classes, extracurricular opportunities and more.

Dual Credit (Gr 10-12)

Dual Credit provides opportunities for students to earn post-secondary credit and high school credit at the same time (without paying post-secondary tuition).  Students take post-secondary courses from skilled professors and instructors, getting a chance to explore programs and potential career options before they graduate from high school.

Student learn to fill prescriptions in the Pharmacy Assistant Certificate Dual Credit program.

This year we have Heritage students involved in Pre-Employment Carpentry, Introduction to Business, Pharmacy Assistant Certificate and Medical Terminology.

We have several students currently participating in Dual Credit programs, and we are adding new opportunities every year.
